Rituals and Traditions

Rituals and traditions are school wide practices which build a strong school culture and climate. These rituals and traditions are aligned with and consistently focused on our mission of learning, leadership and service. Our BFA traditions are developing as we grow into a 6-12 model. Some of our traditions include:

  • Daily Advisory

  • Weekly Community Meeting

  • BFA Day (Early Release for Students)

  • Middle School Red, White and Blue Day Convocation

  • 6th Grade Summer Foundations

  • 8th Grade Gateway Luncheon

  • 9th Grade Summer Semester

  • Passing the Torch Ceremony

  • BFA Diploma of Distinction

Student Council

  • MS Division Board - Focuses on supporting and representing the voice of their middle school classmates and developing school spirit.  The MS Division Board works in partnership with the Student Council advisor.
  • US Division Board - Focuses on supporting and representing the voice of their upper school classmates and developing school spirit.  The US Division Board works in partnership with the Student Council advisor.
  • Grade Level Boards - Focuses on supporting initiatives of their grade level in partnership with the Grade Level Sponsor.
  • Restorative Panels - Students who accept responsibility for a behavior infraction may go to the Restorative Panel to have their classmates decide the consequence for their actions.  The Restorative Panel is a tribunal system.  Students have a peer advocate who will walk them through the process.  Students who fail to meet the expectations of the panel will be given an administrative consequence.
